1 x Bottle of LIQUID ACRYLIC
1 x Bottle containing small amount of HARDENER
Damaged area/Surface
A Damaged area is normally a chip where an object has been dropped ,or a hairline crack which is not through the acrylic lining of the bath or a deep gouge where an object has been dragged across the lining. A repair kit is not to be used to repair a hole through the bath. There is no guarantee that the colour match when dry will be exact.
Preparation of Damaged area
The damaged area/hairline crack must be opened to at least 1 mm. Use a sharp blade or dermal tool to achieve this. This is to allow for the liquid acrylic to enter the crack and “key in” and bind properly.
Clean the damaged area thoroughly when preparation complete using acetone .
Filling up the Damaged area
Mix one tablespoon of liquid acrylic with three drops of hardener. Stir and mix well. Ensure the area is slightly overfilled (higher than the actual bath surface). Leave for a minimum of three hours before moving to next step.
Finish off
Use a 600 grit water paper to remove the high spots where the acrylic has set.
Follow with a 1200 grit water paper to smooth off.
Check the damaged area has no ‘pin holes’in it.
Polish up the area with a rubbing compound. If not quite smooth then use a rubbing compound like brasso or burnishing cream but if properly smooth then use car polish (Rally). |
